Why not? Why not give back while you travel?

The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.-Gandhi

There is no better feeling on this earth than having the opportunity to help someone out. No matter how big or small–it is always appreciated, and it always generates the same amazing feeling. I wanted to share an AMAZING website I found while browsing the web: Pack for a Purpose. Check out their amazing website here !

This non profit organization absolutely floored me. What an amazing, and humbling idea! Their mission is to positively impact communities around the world by assisting travelers who want to bring meaningful contributions to the destinations they visit. If you count the pounds you are able to bring on an airline, it amounts to almost 100lbs, give or take the airline when thinking about your checked luggage and carry-on bags. If every single traveler just set aside 5lbs of supplies, imagine the impact we could have on a community? Most countries are in need of medical supplies(sterile gauzes, bandages, hydrocortisone cream, antibiotic cream, toothbrushes) school supplies (pens, pencils, erasers, calculators, notebooks, lunch boxes, backpacks), clothes, and what child doesn’t love candy

This wonderful organization touches the below areas:      fiji

  • Africa
  • South America
  • Central America
  • North America
  • Caribbean
  • Asia
  • South Asia
  • Southeast Asia
  • Europe
  • Oceania
  • Middle East

Once you click on each individual area, you are able to see different countries and cities. This will help you narrow down your search, and put you in contact with the organization, what they are currently asking for, and directions on where to drop off the supplies. Some, but not all drop off locations are hotels and resorts. You have no reason not to dedicate just 5lbs, thats all we are asking for, 5lbs to help those in need.

Hmm not seeing your vacation spot on the list? Not to worry. Many resorts and hotels know of local charities, schools, and communities in need of YOUR HELP and YOUR SUPPLIES! Reach out, and ask the hotel staff prior to your departure! After seeing this website, I was so eager to help out and got totally bummed when I noticed the island of SavuSavu in Fiji is not showcased on their website. I asked a resort representative and he told me that many guests of the resort bring school supplies and hand deliver them to students in local villages outside of the resort! How cool is that? If I didn’t come across this website, I wouldn’t have known to ask the resort! Just ask! Sean and I are so unbelievably excited to spend one of our days in a Fijian village giving back to local kids.

I hope this post has inspired to give back while you travel. If you can afford a vacation, you can afford the gift of giving. PLEASE act, and let me know if you have any questions.

Until then, Love Bugs!
