South West Florida is one of those places whose hidden gems will transform your whole experience of this quaint little place. The problem with it is, you have to know where to go at all times. You have to look for the hidden treasure, but once you find it, you always want more. If it isn’t completely obvious by now, the ocean drives me. It lights a passion in me that I cannot express. I am a complete and utter beach bum. There is something so fantastic about salty hair and sun-kissed skin. I just love everything about it. I love being a Florida girl. I love being blessed with the ability to sink my toes in the sand at any time.
I pretended to be on vacation this past week.I encourage everyone to be a tourist in your own town. You never know what you will come across! Plus, it is quite fun! Although pretending, I had a great reason driving my imagination. Sean’s family was in town visiting from Pittsburgh, and vacationed with us. We went out to dinner every night, enjoyed the perfect weather, and had so much fun catching up. This blog post will showcase our weekend from dinner at Nervous Nellies on Fort Myers Beach, to bar hopping the classiness of the good ole FMB, all the way down to a beachy pool day in Naples. We had sunshine, drinks, and great food. What more could you ask for?
If you haven’t tried Nervous Nellies, I highly recommend you jump in your car and go right now. The views are great, the live music is fun and tropical, and the food…oh my god….the food is FANTASTIC. The menu is gigantic! It takes at least 15 minutes to figure out what you want. The portions are huge, and will leave you with leftovers the next day. Try this colorful place out. You wont regret it.
I love these tropical signs. You know you are at the beach when you see these! This one is located right outside Nervous Nellies.Nervous Nellies is known for this gigantic adirondack chair. Adirondack chairs exemplify true Florida lifestyle. The restaurant is located caddy corner underneath the San Carlos Bridge. We enjoyed this lovely view from our table! While dining at Nervous Nellies, you also get to enjoy views of one of the many surrounding islands. You may even catch a pod of dolphins swimming by! I got lucky last time! Just keep your eyes peeled! How can I leave out our musical entertainment for the night? You simply can’t get enough of the Palm Trees down here. I grew up with them and I still love them. They just relax you. Here is Sean, his sister and her husband posing from the top deck at Nervous Nellies. You really cant beat those views!I wish they lived down here! We already miss you! Here is a great picture of Sean and his family standing outside of Nervous Nellies! Now everyone, smile and say cheese! 🙂We got so lucky with the sunset! It was breathtaking. The colors were literally popping out of the sky.It was truly beautiful. I have been waiting for a great sunset like this for a long time.Hi Erin and Nick! 🙂“Lets do something fun!” hahaFlashing Lights Lights Lights! This was taken at the Cottage on Fort Myers Beach.Sean and I had a great time showing Erin and Nick all of the dive bars on Fort Myers Beach. This picture was taken inside the Beached Whale. On Saturday, we woke up early and went to the Naples beach. The weather was perfect, the skies were blue, and there was a nice breeze.SWFL is driven by tourism. Lucky for us, season is over and we were able to get a great space on the beach. This picture would simply not exist during the months of November-April. If you visit the beach during that time, you will find tons of snowbirds, and towel after towel after towel lined up right next to each other. I kid you not, there will be no space to walk. After our time at the beach, we made our way to the pool. This pool is a great example of one of the hidden gems of SWFL I was talking about earlier.. Once you go, you find yourself dying to go back.Look at that blue sky! Don’t you just feel like you are on vacation looking at this pool? This shot was taken in the tunnel underneath the waterfall. I am in love with those wooden panels, and look at those vines!Pure paradise.
Thank you for following along love bugs! I hope this post has inspired you to be a tourist in your own town, and enjoy the beauty around you!
